Obituary of Lorne Glenwood Smith

Smith: Lorne Glenwood, a resident of R.R. #2 Croton passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham at the age of 89. Born in Croton, son of the late Cameron and Olive (Peters) Smith. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Archer) Smith (2012). Lorne was a Pig Drover, Farmer and DeKalb Corn Representative. He also worked in the construction business. Lorne's hobbies included piano, clarinet, shuffleboard, cake decorating and many hours of playing cards with friends and family. Loving father of Rev. Wayne Smith (Rev. Carol) of New Brunswick, Kevin Smith of Hong Kong, Wendy Rideout (Derek) of Sarnia and Dugal Smith (Marlene) of Croton. Proud grandfather of Abigail, Annika, Louisa, Korey, Nathan, Shannon, Nadine, Frasier, Lydia and Elliot. Cherished great grandfather of Finley, Owen, Taryn and Cameron. Dear brother-in-law of June Smith of Chatham. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Lorne will be remembered by his dear friends in St. Petersburg, Florida. Predeceased by brother Stewart Smith. The Smith family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 1 p.m. Interment in Mayhew-Mt.
