We always had a laugh about Velma coming to our farm with her new coat on. She helped to gather the eggs and put at least one in her pocket. We all can envision what happened. It wasn't often that we were able to have new clothes in those days either.
We always claimed that Velma was named after our mother who was Velma as well.
Bless the family!

I can't believe we won't have our once or twice a year catch up call again, which l so enjoyed. The sound of your voice, & your ability to tell a great story will always be with me when l remember you.
You were one of a kind with a wonderful dry sense of humor, & a big heart, who gave great hugs!
I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to know you better when I stayed with you as l finished my nursing consolidation. I remember great chats with you & Uncle Ken over suppers, then off for an evening drive for icecream with you and Barbara in the evening. You will always have a special place in my heart! ♥️

I was six years old sitting in the middle of the seat in grandpa’s pickup truck and just tall enough to see out over the dashboard. When I looked out the window on my left and right I could see the dust streaming out behind and up into the air as if it was fumes from our rocket engines. We were thundering down a gravel road at high speed on our way to an evening, women’s league baseball game with Aunt Velma behind the wheel and Aunt Evelyn on my tight holding onto the door handle and trying not to look concerned. Doesn’t get any better than that!!

Well it is a little over a month and I just can't believe that my friend has gone to higher rewards. I miss her terribly, could always count on her to enjoy a meal out or do some crop touring. There weren't many days this past year when I didn't see her or talk to her on the phone. The other day I went to dial a Bothwell number and almost dialed hers. Bill, Beth, and Barbara treasure all your fun memories.
Hugs Pat and Grant

Bill, Beth & Barbara: My deepest sympathy! Your mom was very dear to me. She made the best tea and it sure hit the spot. One time I visited and had 4 cups of her tea...and it wasn't due to the fine china! Your mom loved to visit and entertain others. There was never a time when she didn't have some sort of goodies to put out. She was a fine hostess and dear friend. RIP Velma, you will be missed but I know you have found joy and comfort from being reunited with Ken.

I was very saddened to hear of Velma's passing. She was a dear friend of our mother Anita DUNLOP, and she was very good to myself. I'll always have fond memories of Velma. One memory is how she loved doing laundry. She had the best tips on how to get stains out and no one could iron clothes like Velma! I learned a lot from all her tips! And today, there are few people who own an iron and/or ironing board, lol!
My thoughts and prayers to Bill, Beth, and Barbara, and families.

Bill, Beth and Barb - I enjoyed living in our Rose farm community beside Ken and Velma and my many visits with them. As kids, Robin, Darren and myself got the heck off the road when we heard Velma barrelling down the road in her 98 Oldsmobile. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed so much!
