Obituary of Frances M. Blakeley

Blakeley, Frances a resident of Chatham and formerly of Wabash passed away peacefully at Meadow Park Nursing Home, Chatham on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the age of 95. Frances was born in Camden Twp. in 1914, daughter of the Charles and Florence (Benjamin) Liberty. In 1938 she married Carman Blakeley and they continued to live in Wabash and raise their family, Connie Martin (David), Carol Chevalier (Richard) and Ann Kirkham (Doug). She was proud of her grandchildren Brad & Sara Martin, Marcia and Greg Walden, Krista Chevalier & Kevin Sims, Matthew Chevalier, Martin Chevalier, Katie Kirkham & Mike Keating, Kelly Kirkham & Brynley Longman, Alex & Ed McGriskin. Great grandchildren Emma, Glen, Josh, Meredith, Isaac, Mackenzie, Fiona, Nevan, Owen, Bazel and great-great-grandson Bradley. Surviving are two sisters Ida & Allan Holmes and June & Phil Burton and sister-in-law Shirley Blakeley. Predeceased by her brother Ben and sisters Winnie & Martha. Frances was an honourary life member of the Wabash Women’s Institute. She will be remembered by many as their school bus driver, piano teacher or as the lady who brought the National Film Board films to the rural public schools. Her dearest possessions were her family, friends and neighbours who she always welcomed to her home. Many cups of coffee and visits have been enjoyed at her kitchen table. We celebrate her life and the positive difference her love made in the lives of many, especially her children. The Blakeley family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Tuesday evening from 5 – 9pm. The funeral service will held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 11:00am with Elder Jim Perritt and Mrs. Donna Green officiating. Interment Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville. If desired donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to the Community of Christ, Wabash, Dresden Food Bank or the Wabash Women’s Institute.
