Gaynes: Margaret Claire (nee Archer), a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the age of 80. Born in St. Thomas daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Stilwell) Archer. Beloved wife of John "Jack" Gaynes. Margaret loved shopping, paint by numbers, knitting, crocheting, and was an avid ipad user. She loved keeping in touch with family, old school chums and current friends. Her love of music included The Andrews Sisters, Pat Boone, and Oldies music. Her favourite actors were Shirley Temple, and Carey Grant, who she actually met. Margaret had worked for the Bank of Commerce in her younger years, Union Gas, and accounting departments for Faberge, Belvedere Ltd., and Buckley's. Cherished mom of Deborah Chandler (Brian), Currie Gillespie (Cathy), Fr. Blair Gaynes, and John Gaynes. Adopted mom of Mark Adkinson (Jana). Cherished grandma of Michael (Erin) MacDonald, late Ricky MacDonald (1998), Stephen (Jihyun) MacDonald, late Laura MacDonald (1985), Andrew Gillespie, BryAnna Gillespie, Gabrielle Gillespie, and adopted grandma to Katya, Nicholas, and Lexi Adkinson. Proud great grandma of Isabella and Emma MacDonald, Damian MacDonald. Dear sister Vivian Hetherington (Kent) and sister-in-law of Dorothy Archer (Leonard). Predeceased by siblings Leonard, Audrey Brown (Bob), Dorothy Smith (Lorne), and Mary Rowena. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
