Obituary of Richard Grant Dunlop
Richard "Dick" Grant Dunlop, a resident of Tupperville, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham, Wallaceburg at the age of 88. Born in Chatham, the son of the late Harvey and Maisie (Burrows) Dunlop. Dick spent all his life on the farm.In his younger years he was an avid euchre player, ball player, bowler, darts and snooker champion. Dick had spent many years on the municipal council as a councillor, deputy reeve, road commission and committee of adjustments. He owned and operated Dunlop Water Well Drilling. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge. He was involved in minor hockey for many years as a trainer, as a coach and president in 1977-1978. Dick was also one of the founding members of The Wolf Lake Hunt Club and member from 1957-2022. Beloved husband and best friend of 65 years to Margaret R. (Robinson) Dunlop. Loving dad of Loree Elgie (Bill), Linda Dunlop, Allen Dunlop (Renee Nichols), Kathryn Dunlop (the late Mike Lester), Karen Drummond (Jamie) and Amy Grand (Chris). Proud grandpa of Allison Elgie (Jacob Watt), Kenneth Elgie, Jennifer Elgie (Jason DeHoey), Emily Grand (Marc Joosse), David Dunlop, Daniel Grand and Michael Grand. Cherished great grandpa of Lila, Thorin and Rosy Watt and Mason Grand. Dear brother-in-law of Doreen Dunlop, Bonnie Martin (Don) and Willa Schurter. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Bob Dunlop, sister and brothers-in-law Elva McFadden (Don), Barry Schurter, father- in-law and mother-in-law Garnet and Jessie (Adams) Robinson.
