Obituary of Nancy Lillian Elgie
Nancy Lillian (Hardy) Elgie, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice at the age of 66. Born in Bancroft on March 14, 1958 to parents Rev. Leslie and Lillian (Nelson) Hardy. As a minister’s daughter, she called several communities home before landing in Tupperville after graduating from the University of Guelph. While working as a Teaching Assistant, she was set up on a blind date with her future husband and love of her life, Earl Elgie. They were married August 20, 1983 and settled down at Fairview Farm in Dawn Mills. There Nancy raised 5 boys with her husband Earl being the eldest boy. As a farmer’s wife, Nancy’s greatest joy was watching her children and grandchildren grow. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Earl, her 4 sons and their families: Ryan and Lindsey, Owen, Poppy, Ben; Colin and Debra, Luke, Lily, Olivia, Duncan; Grant and Amy, Norah, Logan; Parker and Skye, Hank the Cat. Also survived by her brother Paul Hardy, sister Marilyn (Lee) Williams and an extended family of in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and brother Murray. Family and friends will be received at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden on Tuesday, March 11 from 4 - 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 2 p.m. Interment in Blackburn Cemetery, Dresden at a later date.
