Obituary of Janet Susie Cook
Janet Susie Cook, a resident of Dresden, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 86. Born in Chatham, the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Francis) Wilmott. Beloved wife of Jarvis Cook for 64 years. Loving Mother of Tim (Bonnie) and Valerie (Michael). "Mamie" will be remembered with great affection by her granddaughter Kyla and great-grandchildren Phoenix and Ariella.
Dear sister of the late Barb Everitt (late Bob), Bob Wilmott (Minetta), Betty Smith (late Grant), Judy Forsyth (late Bob), Brenda Bourdeau (Brian), John Wilmott (Kathryn), June Machacek (Kevin) and late Margie Zruna (late John). Fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet will be missed by lifelong friends Linda and Garnie Gall as well as her favourite neighbours Joyce and Gord Ritchie. She had great affection for her 4-legged children, Scamper, Hootch and Harlee.
Mom was an active member in the community and volunteered with Friends of the Library in addition to Meals on Wheels. For many years she enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church as well as assisting the Heather Club in serving meals for the Rotary. She was employed as a hairdresser but excelled as a homemaker. Coffee dates with friends were one of her favourite pastimes as well as baking pies for Dad. She loved road trips especially if it resulted in a shopping trip! Janet was loved by many and we will all miss her feisty personality. She may have been small in stature, but she was mighty in spirit.
Special thanks to the palliative staff at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as well as Jenn Tremblay from Ontario Health at Home. Private family Interment in Dresden Cemetery.
