We just wanted to send our sincerest condolences for the loss of Lyle. He was truly the best neighbour and things were sure different without both him and Norma when they moved from Clachan. We loved his visits and thoroughly enjoyed hearing him recount his pranks from younger days. The kids always knew it was him from his Mickey golf ball on his antenna! Our best effort to honour him was having our youngest, Everett, on his birthday!
He will always remain “Lyle the Mann” to us because he was truly larger than life. He will sure be missed.

Carolyn, Judy, Mary Lou, Janice and families,
I have just learned that Lyle has died. I am so sorry and, also, so glad to have known Lyle and Norma.
Our father, Del Shamley loved them dearly and they were both so kind and loving to
our entire family. Lyle's sense of humour was amazing. I know Dad loved to work with him
for many years at the Co-Op and he always enjoyed every conversation. Lyle was fun to be around.
Their Christian commitment was always obvious in the community, their kindness, their listening ears, their generosity.and the love they modelled. I am so sorry you have lost them both. Losing the ones we love brings grief and gratitude I know.
I will always have both for Lyle and norma.May peace and healing be with you in the time ahead.
Mary Shamley - Wardsville.

Carolyn, Judy, Mary Lou, Janice and families,
Lyle was such a special person, a grand sense of humour, such a wonderful community person in Clachan and a great friend of our father (Bob Bergey) and our entire family! He always had a smile with a twinkle in his eyes! Deepest sympathy to all of you ❤️
I am sorry that I was unable to attend Lyle’s funeral.

I will always remember Uncle Lyle’s steadiness. The comparison today of a strong and trusted tree beside the uncertainties of a flowing river was apt. In times of need, I expect others turned naturally to Lyle Mann for support and leadership. I’ll miss his voice giving grace and the brightness of his eyes always ready for a bit of fun. His life and his service to the community and our family will always be an example and an inspiration.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lyle, who was such a cherished part of our Maple View Terrace community alongside Norma from 2019 until our closure in January 2025.
We all have the fondest memories of Lyle, his quick wit, his infectious sense of humor, and most of all, his genuine kindness. He had a way of lighting up every room he entered, bringing warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging to everyone around him.
Lyle had an incredible gift for friendship. He always had a joke ready, often an inside joke that made you feel seen, understood, and truly valued. It was in those small, special moments that his big heart shone the brightest.
We will remember him with deep affection and gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. He was not just a resident, he was a friend, a bright light, and a part of our family.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with you. May the love and laughter Lyle shared bring you comfort and strength in the days ahead.
With sympathy and love,
Melissa Sparling (Maple View Terrace)

Condolence to the Mann family. Although Lyle had retired from the Muirkirk Coop when I started, he would often stop in to visit with Del, Mary Lou and Linda. The stories those 4 shared of the pranks that Lyle pulled on various staff members would have you laughing all day long. Speak his name often and may his memories help you get through the difficult days ahead.

Our deepest condolences to his family. We remember 1st from the Co-Op in Muirkirk in the store, Bert VanLith and Lyle would talk for hours, always had a story to tell. We got to know him better with living in the "Greater Clachan Area" which the next generation named and shortened it to " The GCA " which Lyle got a real kick out of that. And of course at his second home at Wardsville Golf Club The functions at the Clachan Hall and at golf were always a hoot when Lyle would MC. Thats what we will missed the most, sincerely VanLiths

Even though Lyle was not at Metcalfe Gardens long, it took him no time at all to make friends. He always had a kind word to say, a joke to hear and a nickname for everyone. He will be missed by all of the staff and his friends at Metcalfe Gardens. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family.

I’m sad to hear that Lyle has passed. My dad, Robert, mentioned Lyle and Firman when remembering his family back east. I’m grateful that my cousin Patty, James’s daughter, has kept us together in her remembrances of our shared kin.
Best wishes going forward,

Thank you for posting your condolences Susan. Patty has been great in connecting with our family and it's lovely to hear from you.
Is your dad ,Robert, one of Bertha &Fred's boys? I am not very informed when it comes to their children's names. It was wonderful to grow up on the same farm where my Grandpa and his brothers and Aunt Mable were born. It afforded me the opportunity to meet many of Grandpa (Firman)Mann's brothers. A real blessing.

Thank you Amy for posting this picture. I remember that particular reunion. It was 2019, the year mom had her stroke and they had just moved into a seniors residence in London. Dad was so happy to still go to the reunion. Doubly happy when Jenny (Kelly) Åttewell gave him his personal elderberry pie..a Willick tradition ❤️

I have so many memories of Lyle, too many to tell. My first memory of him happened when I was about three years old. It was Christmas time and we were sitting in our living room when “Santa Claus” came in. I remember my brother Ken being there, but I don’t believe that Orville was born yet.I remember Lyle all dressed up in a Santa suit and giving really deep “ho ho ho”. When he left, I raced after him so that I could see him with his reindeer. I was very disappointed to see Santa get into A CAR and leave!

Carolyn Posted Jul 23, 2025 at 1:32 PM
I'm so glad you posted this memory Jan. I was thinking of a similar story this week. It was probably the same year. Santa showed up at our house too. I remember him asking me what I had for supper."Macaroni". That's about all I can remember from his visit but unlike yours, he didn't get in his car. He probably just went into the bedroom to change. So glad I can remember those little events❤️

I have so many memories of Lyle throughout my youth that I can't hone in on one. My favourite memory although is as an adult and only a few years back. Lyle was wanting to go to the church Anniversary and he rode with me. This was a couple years after my dad's passing so Lyle told me stories of my dad and uncles that I had never heard before. It makes my heart happy just thinking of our day out.

Sending love to all the Mann family and relations on the loss of our beloved Lyle. I will always remember the times he phoned my Dad on his birthday, every year without fail. After my Dad passed away, Lyle would call me on my father's birthday. He always had a great sense of humor and we often had a lot of laughs during our phone calls.
I loved sending Lyle puzzles for his birthday and was so proud when he completed some of the hardest ones, including the1000 piece puzzle of Yosemite falls and the 1,000 piece puzzle of the bear. May he now rest in peace alongside his beloved wife, Norma, after a life well lived! Love from cousin, Patty Mann

Passing on our condolences to the Mann families. We will remember Lyle as a gentle man. There were many occasion held at the Clachan Community Hall when Lyle was the Master of Ceremony. His wit, and ease of joke telling was a class act. The Clachan Baptist church was always warmed early on those winter Sundays by Lyle and Norma's early arrivals.
Including a photo of a barn raising on the farm of Allen and Eva Bergey. Lyle is the one sitting high on the rafters. Maxine Bergey seems to be also helping with her dad and Lyle.
