Obituary of Phyllis May Warmerdam

Phyllis May Warmerdam (nee Burrell) passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Sunday March 29 around 6pm in her 83rd year with her family by her side. Born in Dresden, Ontario, daughter of the late Almeda Rosebrugh and Norman Burrell. She combined taking care of her kids at home with a variety of teaching jobs from elementary kids to adults. Phyllis was a loyal member of the Oil Springs United Church for more than 60 years, serving in many different positions there. She volunteered for a variety of charities in the area, including Lambton Elderly Outreach. 

Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Adrian “Art” Warmerdam (2025). Loving mother of Frank Warmerdam and Lisa Warmerdam (Jim Randall). Proud grandmother to Adrian (Kristy Shultz) Warmerdam, Malcolm (Joshua McCoy) Warmerdam, Alexander White and Ethan White. Also proud great grandmother of Declan and Ryker Warmerdam. Sister to Marjory (the late John) Parkins, sister-in-law Pat Burrell and predeceased by brothers Richard, William “Bill”, Frank, Gordon, Raymond and Gerald, step-sister Virginia and step-mother Ruby. Beloved aunt to more than seventy nieces and nephews worldwide. Devoted member of breast cancer survivor dragon boat team - the Breast Buddies.

The Warmerdam family will receive visitors at the Badder Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 679 North St. Dresden on Wednesday April 1 from 5 PM - 8 PM. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday April 2, 2026 at 1 PM with Rev. Bryan Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at the Dresden Cemetery.
