Obituary of Evelyn Irene Cross
CROSS: Evelyn (Elsom), formerly of Cairo, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy at the age of 92. Born in Euphemia Twp., daughter of the late Herbert and Mabel (Brown) Elsom. Beloved wife of the late William Cross. Loving mother of Larry Cross (Donna) of Sarnia, Carlyle Cross (Cindy) of Cairo, Brenda Blackmore (Joel) of Mt. Brydges, Nancy Cross (Don Bryant) of Victoria Harbour, Hope Harms (Brian) of London. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Lisa Thompson (Dennis), Dan Cross (Julianne), Liane Bedard (Josh), Jeff Cross (Debbie), Mandy Maginnis (Rob), Jenny Cross, Joey Blackmore (Brigitte), Teresa Monck (Jason), Jamie Blackmore (Lisa), Nick Sararas (Emily), Kim Cooper (Jamie), Evie Sararas (Kelcey Bell), Cassandra Harms, Caitlyn Harms and 29 great-grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one grandson, Darren Cross, and her sisters Eleanor Thomas, Alice McCracken, Lila McAuslan, and a brother Alfred Elsom. Evelyn resided in Euphemia Township for her whole life. In years past she was very involved in her church community and was willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Her greatest joy was having her family around her. Some of her favourite pastimes included making quilts, sewing, gardening, creating flowerbeds and watching the birds that visited her yard. The Cross family will receive friends at the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, 211 Elm St., Bothwell on Thursday evening from 7:00- 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:30 PM (visitation 1 hour prior to the service). Interment Bothwell Cemetery.
