Obituary of Elda Georgina Thompson

Thompson: Elda Georgina (Ladd) passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Park Street Place, Dresden. She was born Jan. 27, 1923 daughter of the late Edward and Yvonne (Poole) Ladd in Chatham Township. For over 60 years she was the beloved wife of the late Howard Thompson, who predeceased her in 2003. She is survived by son Allen and his wife Sandra Thompson of Dresden and her daughter Betty Ann Smith of Windsor. Her grandchildren Trevor (Dayna), Steven (Elizabeth) Thompson, Felesha Brutus, Rachelle and Justin Smith. Her great grandchildren Troy, Shelbie Rae and Enaya Thompson, Joshua (Bailey), Jacob, Justice and Jurnee Brutus and great great granddaughter Amara Rose. She is survived by her brothers and their spouses Lloyd (Loretta) and Harvey (Jill) Ladd and her brother-in-law Bernard Simmons. Several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. She is predeceased by her son Edward Leroy, her daughter Carol Diane, son-in-law Lionel Smith, sister Verna Simmons and brothers and their spouses Stanley (Lucille and Olive), Morley (Mildred) and Alvin (Elenora) and Gerald (Jean) Ladd. Elda was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church, the Ladies Aid and Mission Circle. She was also given a Life Membership in the Affiliated Baptist Societies of Canada. The Thompson family will receive friends at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 1 p.m. Interment in Dresden Cemetery.
