Obituary of John Carlyle Badder

Badder: John Carlyle, a resident of Thamesville passed away peacefully at the London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the age of 91.  Dad was born in Wabash, on the family farm on Sharrow Rd., the 5th child of Robert and Nora (Kelley) Badder. He graduated from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa,  then received his Funeral Director's Licence from the Canadian School of Embalming Banting Institute in 1955. Dad apprenticed for Jack Grass at the funeral home in Dresden, before opening the John C. Badder Funeral Home in Thamesville in 1956. He served the families of Thamesville and Dresden for over 50 years with the utmost respect and kindness, always putting "service above self ". He owned and operated Badder Home Furnishings for many years.  He was an Elder of the Community of Christ Church, Wabash and a past member of the Thamesville Rotary Club, Thamesville Kiwanis, and a 50 year member of the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge No. 245  A.F.& A.M. Mom and dad enjoyed their retirement wintering in Mesa, Arizona for 18 years.  Beloved husband for 68 years to Marilyn (Barker) Badder. Loving father of Nathaniel Badder, Jon Badder Jr. and Jason Badder. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ian (Steph), Alexandra, Alycia, Tia, Jonathan and great-grandchildren Buzz and Rudy. Dear brother of Vern Badder and Ron Badder (Pauline). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his sister Velma ( Lorne ), brothers Orlo (Joanne), Jimmy, Lloyd (Norma) and sister-in-law Margaret Badder. A Private Family Visitation and Funeral Service with the Badder Families will be held. Interment in Mayhew-Mt.Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville. In lieu of flowers donations (by cheque) to the Community of Christ Church, Wabash ( c/o 29015 Sharrow Rd, Thamesville, ON N0P 2K0) would be appreciated.
