Bilton; William "Bill" a resident of Florence, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the age of 83. Beloved husband to MaryLou (Slack) Bilton. Cherished father to Karen Lepine (Michael), Bill Bilton Jr. (Janice). Grandfather to Jacie Campbell (Scott), Mitch Bilton, Patrick Lepine (Fiona), Ryan Lepine (Shanna). Brother to Elaine Wilcox (John), Dianne Griffith (Bill), Martha Mawlam (Bob), Nancy Cryderman (John), Lynda Pelcz (Joe), Bob Bilton (Evelyn). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill lived and farmed in Euphemia Twp. all his life, he served the families of Lambton County, Euphemia and Dawn Townships for 35 years. He was first elected in November 1982 as a councillor in Euphemia Township, became deputy reeve and then reeve before the township amalgamated with Dawn in 1998. He became the new municipality's first mayor and in 1992, served as the Warden of Lambton during turbulent times as Sarnia became part of Lambton County. Bill's honesty and gentle demeanour made him a mentor to many. The Bilton family will receive family and friends to celebrate Bill’s Life at the Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre, 6213 Mill Street, Florence on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 1:00-5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation (by cheque only) to the MS Society or Dawn-Euphemia Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com.
