Smith: Dorothy Helen (Archer), a resident of R.R. #2 Croton passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury at the age of 83. She was born in St. Thomas, daughter of the late Clarence and Viola (Stilwell) Archer. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church, Wallaceburg. She worked at Libbey’s and Sears, Chatham. Dorothy was an organist and choir director for many years. She loved gardening and travelling. Beloved wife of 62 years to Lorne Smith. Loving mother of Wayne Smith (Carol) of New Brunswick, Kevin Smith of Hong Kong, Wendy Rideout (Derek) of Sarnia and Dugal Smith (Marlene) of Croton. Proud grandma of Abigail, Annika, Louisa, Korey, Nathan, Shannon, Nadine, Frasier, Lydia and Elliot. Dear sister of Vivian Hetherington (Kent) of Thamesville, Audrey Brown of London and Margaret Gaynes (Jack) of Chatham. Sadly missed by sisters-in-law Dorothy Archer of Oakville and June Smith of Chatham. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Leonard Archer, infant sister Mary Rowena Archer, brother-in-law Bob Brown. The Smith family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria Street, Thamesville on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment in Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville. Donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
