Smith: James G., a resident of Thamesville, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the age of 88. Born in Thamesville, son of the late James A., and Annie (Morrison) Smith. In Jim’s younger years he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and especially love archery. He had worked at Blessed Sacrament Church, Chatham for many years. Many thanks to Dr. Kate Bailey for her many years of compassionate care, and thank-you to Bonny Francis of Francis Place in Thamesville for the great care Jim received in the last six months. Beloved husband of the late Agnes (Coburn) Smith (1980).Jim is survived by his daughter Julie Smith of Chatham, Michael Mark Smith (Anita) of Waterloo; grandchildren Kendra Seymour (Dave), Trevor Smith (Hollie), Paul Wyatt ; great-grandchildren Shaun and Samantha ; a sister Edie Nessline (George); brothers Bill Smith (Rita), Harry Smith (late Josie), Don Smith (Dorothy); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by a sister Mary Pumfrey and a brother Frank “Bud” Smith (and his late wife Helen) . The Smith family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, Thamesville on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 12:30pm until the time of the memorial service at 1:30pm. Cremation with interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to the Chatham-Kent O.S.P.C.A. or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
