Carther: Lanny, a resident of Thamesville, passed away suddenly following a brief illness on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the C.K.H.A. Public General Campus, Chatham at the age of 65. Born in Thamesville, son of the late Garnet and Helen (Cragg) Carther. Lanny joined the Thamesville/Camden Fire Dept in April 1968 and was currently Station Fire Chief of the Chatham-Kent Fire Station No 8, Thamesville, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 367, Thamesville. Beloved husband of Phyllis (Cousins) Carther. Loving father of Scott and Sandra Carther, Darren and Stacey Carther all of Thamesville. Loving and proud grandpa of Nicholas, Kara, Kylie and Landon. Dear brother of Leroy and Verna Carther, Sharon Carther, Brian and Brenda Carther. Also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by a brother Wilfred Carther. The Carther family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, Thamesville on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Fr. John Johnson officiating. Interment in Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville. Donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to the Thamesville Fireman’s Association.
