Obituary of Frederick Joseph DeBruyne
It is with deep sadness that the family of Frederick Joseph DeBruyne announce his peaceful passing, on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 85. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved the outdoors, boating fishing, hunting, and camping. He was also a wonderful cook, liked to tell jokes, enjoyed watching sports and loved all his grandchildren very much.
Born in Dover Twp., the son of the late Henry and Emerance (Buys) DeBruyne. Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Dianne DeBruyne (2022). Loving dad of Vicky DeBruyne (Shayne), Belinda Hakr (Mike), Kelly DeBruyne (Chris) and Nathan DeBruyne (Diane). Cherished grandpa of Jessica (Stephen), CJ, Brandon, Kaitlyn (Tyler), Nolan (Allison), Megan (Grayson), great grandson Easton Frederick Hakr and step grandchildren Logan and Carter. Dear brother of Yvonne Marcus (Ed), Mauritz DeBruyne (the late Rachel), the late Willie DeBruyne (the late Leta) and the late Alfred DeBruyne (the late Madeline). Predeceased by sisters-in-law Anne Benn (the late Charles), Yvonne Yonkheym (the late Pete), Rose Verschoore (the late Joe), brother-in-law Omer Vandevenne (Emma). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Fred will be deeply missed by his dog Shelby.
Cremation has taken place and a private service is being held on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Fred can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, Dresden.
