Obituary of Lorne Walter Patterson

Lorne Walter Patterson, a resident of Chatham and formerly of Bothwell, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Chatham-Kent Hospice at the age of 88. Born in Euphemia Twp., the son of the late George and Edna (Currie) Patterson. As a young man, Lorne worked hard operating his farm drainage business. He was generous with his time and would lend a hand whenever it was needed, especially with all things mechanical. After retirement, Lorne and Eilene sold the farm and moved to Chatham and enjoyed life in town, where they continued to host family gatherings and spend time with friends. From family road trips to cruises, Lorne saw the world with Eilene and friends. He was an avid golfer and a familiar face at Wardsville golf club.  Beloved husband of Eilene (Hastings) Patterson. Loving dad of Janice Hodgetts (the late Edward), Susan Patterson (Jim Grover) and Dennis Patterson (Lorie Wolf). Proud grandpa of Travis Hodgetts (Silvana De Natale), Andrea Hodgetts (Peter Copping) and Jed Patterson. Cherished great grandpa of Cecilia, Cedro, Emma and Cassidy. Dear brother of the late George Patterson (the late Beverly), Estella Miller (the late Robert), Doris Montgomery (Barry), the late Ken Patterson (Olga), Leila Loosemore (the late Morley), Shirley Phillips (the late Don), Gail Patterson, Jean St. Pierre (Maurice), Pat Patterson (Mike Potter) and Lynne Allen (Bob). Loved  brother-in-law of David and Laura Hastings,  the late Kenneth Hastings, and the late Marilyn (the late Earl Waites). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by friend of 70 years Bob Wheeler and his wife Lorraine. Special thanks to his caregivers at St. Andrew's Residence and Chatham-Kent Hospice. The Patterson family will receive friends at the Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre, 6213 Mill St., Florence on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 1 -4 p.m. for a Celebration of Lorne's Life.
