Goetheyn, Catherina "Cathy", passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the age of 87. Born in Made, Holland, daughter of the late Cornelius and Petronella (Verschuren) Van Dongen. Beloved wife of the late Rene Goetheyn (2005). Cherished and loving mother to Jenny & Ben Hogervorst of Goderich, Jerry & Janice Goetheyn of Dresden, Jim & Michelle Goetheyn of Chatham, and Janet & Rob Griffith of Dresden. Forever missed by her grandchildren; Chris (Aiden) Hogervorst, Katherine (Jamie) Rodger, Kimberly (Ryan) Finnie, Allison (Graham) Burton, Laura Goetheyn, Eric Goetheyn, Trent (Nicole) Goetheyn, Tyler Goetheyn, Brent Griffith, and by her great-grandchildren; Emmerson, Reese, and Theodore Hogervorst, Maximus, Mya, and Matthew Finnie. Dear sister to the late Corrie Koppes (John), Nellie Van Der Pryt (late Cornelius), Tony Van Bommel (Toni), late Mary Van Waes (late Wilfred), late Frank Van Dongen (Ria), late Pete Van Dongen (late Helen), late Case Van Dongen (Simone). Sister-in-law to and predeceased by Louis & Ruby Goetheyn, Anna & Willy Coolman, and George Goetheyn. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Cathy enjoyed playing cards especially euchre and thousand but most importantly cherished time with her family. A private family visitation and funeral service will take place at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden. Interment to follow at Dresden Cemetery. Those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Michael's Catholic Church Building Fund, St. Andrew's Residence, or Heart & Stroke.
