Obituary of Eilene Ann Patterson
Eilene Patterson (Hastings), formerly of Chatham and of R.R.# 1 Bothwell, passed away peacefully at Exendicare, London on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the age of 86. Born in Chatham, the daughter of the late Harold and Edna Hastings. Eilene was a teacher for many years. She had a reputation for being strict, but she made learning interactive and fun. Eilene was an amazing baker and was renowned for her pies and Christmas goodies. After retirement, she volunteered at the hospital in Newbury and took up quilting and golf. She turned out to be quite good at both. Many of her family and friends are the recipients of quilts and wall hangings artistically crafted with love. A few years after retirement, Eilene and Lorne sold the farm and moved to Chatham where they continued to host family gatherings and spend time with friends. From family road trips to cruises, they saw the world. Beloved wife of the late Lorne Patterson (2022). Loving mom of Janice Hodgetts (the late Edward), Susan Patterson (Jim Grover) and Dennis Patterson (Lorie Wolf). Proud grandma of Travis Hodgetts (Silvana De Natale), Andrea Hodgetts (Peter Copping) and Jed Patterson. Cherished great grandma of Cecilia, Cedro, Emma, Cassidy and Ellis. Dear sister of David Hastings (Laura). Predeceased by her brother Kenneth Hastings and sister Marilyn Waites (the late Earl). Dear sister-in-law of the late George Patterson (the late Beverly), Estella Miller (the late Robert), Doris Montgomery (Barry), the late Ken Patterson (the late Olga), Leila Loosemore (the late Morley), Shirley Phillips (the late Don), Gail Patterson, Jean St. Pierre (Maurice), Pat Patterson (Mike Potter) and Lynne Allen (Bob). She was great friends with all her sisters-in-law and will be sadly missed. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. The Patterson family will receive friends at the Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre, 6213 Mill St., Florence on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. for a Celebration of Eilene's Life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Four Counties Health Services Foundation or The Kidney Foundation of Ontario. Arrangements are entrusted to the John C. Badder Funeral Home, Thamesville.
