Obituary of George William Sherman III
George William Sherman III , a resident of Thamesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 70. Born in Chatham, the son of the late George and Betty (Puttock) Sherman II. Beloved husband and best friend of Mandy (McFadden) Sherman. Beloved son-in-law of Max (Doreen) McFadden. Loving father to Chris (Nicole) Sherman, Jillian (Cory) Kemp, Kari (Jamie) Maure. Proud and loving grandfather of Cameron and Drew Sherman, Sawyer and Caden Kemp, and Connor Maure. Brother to Guy (Sherri), Bob, and Shannan Sherman. Brother-in-law to the late Debbie (Holmes) Sherman. He leaves behind an aunt and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
George had a love for life, family, and hockey. He took pride in having many friends and being a dedicated employee for 35 years at Canadian Fram/Siemens Automotive in Chatham. He cherished all of the friendships and experiences he had through his playing days with the Dresden Jr. Kings, Dresden Lumberkings, Dresden Elderkings, and while coaching over three decades with a number of teams and associations including Dresden Minor Hockey, Chatham-Kent Cyclones, Dresden Jr. Kings, Petrolia Jets, and Leamington Flyers. During his spare time, George enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and could often be found at a hockey rink or baseball diamond taking in a game or practice.
Visitation will be held at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre at 679 North St., Dresden, ON, August 1st, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Family and Friends are also welcome to join a Celebration of Life at the Ken Houston Agricultural Memorial Centre, 1212 North St., Dresden, ON on August 2nd beginning at 5pm.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held. Interment in Mayhew Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville, ON.
