I will miss Aunt Kitty but am happy she is finally at peace. So fortunate to have been able to visit the last few summers. I have so many fond childhood memories of our visits to Shawinigan. And as we grew up, our Labour Day weekend visits, complete with outings to the textile stores. And as my own children grew and Kitty and Ole moved to Craig Quay, we had annual November visits for the girls Cornwall hockey tournament. Always the perfect hostess, and the food….so delicious. I will think of Kitty as I make my “Kitty Buns” for Christmas dinner. Sending much love and hugs xoxo

Kitty was my grandmother’s friend (Audrey Wood). I have great memories of spending time with her when I would spend the summer or holiday break with my grandparents.. Sending huge hug to family.

Kitty was my kindergarten teacher, a neighbor who also was part of our party line, and the organist and choir director at church. Despite all her help it made no difference if you couldn’t carry a tune like myself. I rarely babysit because Peter and Wendy loved Stuart my brother. Stuart was excited when he learned that they had named their new baby brother Stuart. They were a wonderful family that was greatly missed when they left Shawinigan. Sending my condolences to family.

Please accept my deepest sympathies at the passing of your remarkable Mother Kitty. My family lived across from your Kiar Grandparents on Cedar Ave. in Shawinigan. Although I am younger than your parents I remember them well. Kitty became a good friend of my Mother, Kaye Bouvette (d. 2003). Along with their many mutual friends they engaged in numerous activities together. Kitty was the organist at my wedding in 1966. I also accompanied my Mother to one of your weddings in Southern Ontario many years ago. I do remember Kitty’s zest for life and the many things that she accomplished as part of the Shawinigan Community. The Choir of Angels has assembled to welcome her and sing to her wonderful organ music. May all your beautiful memories sustain you at this most difficult time.

My deepest.sympathies to Wendy, Stuart, Kathy and Alex, Ian, Stephanie and Kazu, and the extended Kiar clan. Kitty was a unique and remarkable woman, and much loved by all who knew her. The Kiars were our neighbours in Shawinigan South, and I have known her for 70 years, first as a new born arriving home from the Joyce Memorial Hospital in 1954. Peter and I were the very best of friends, and I spent innumerable hours at the Kiars, benefitting from Kitty’s positive energy, intelligence, humour, counsel, and caring. Like so many others, I have lasting memories of a very special person. God bless you Kitty and thanks for being part of our lives.

I am so sorry to hear of Kitty’s passing but so happy that she is now at peace. Kitty was a force of nature. A strong, smart, engaging and inspirational woman. It was an honour to be her niece-in-law and I loved her dearly. I imagine all the fun and interesting activities she is now free to engage in up in heaven, with Ole, Peter, her siblings and friends who went ahead. It’s probably a big party up there now and she is at the center of it. Go with peace Kitty. Love you xoxo

Dear Wendy, Stuart, and Ian. Deepest sympathies on the loss of your dear Mum, Kitty. I have so many fond memories from our childhood. Growing up as neighbours on boul. St. Laurent in Shawinigan South was magical. So much freedom to play by the river in all seasons - building log rafts, canoeing, skating - and always the comfort and security knowing that we could pop in to either one of our homes and there would always be something coming out of the oven that our moms would have baked that day. Sweet memories. Sending you and your families much love and light at this very sad time. Mrs. Kiar will be greatly missed. Love, Debbie Gudgeon Harris

I am deeply saddened to hear of Kitty’s passing. I have known her all my life. The Kiar’s were close friends of my family, neighbours, and Kitty gave me piano lessons when I was a teenager. She allowed me to play things like Lara’s theme from Doctor Zhivago and not just Mozart and Bach. She was kind, loving, a good listener, an amazing lady. Until a few years ago we exchanged Christmas cards every year. My heart felt condolences to Wendy, Stuart, Ian and there families from all the Wood family. Sincerely Kathy Wood Merrill

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Kitty, but have heard a few short anecdotes about her over the years. It is obvious from her obituary that she was a leader and left an indelible mark on the lives of your family. She in turn, must have been so proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
Our sincerest condolences
