Obituary of Gerald Alfred Holmes
Holmes: Gerald "Jerry" a resident of Thamesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the age of 89. Born in Dawn Mills, son of the late Bryan and Estella (Terhune) Holmes. Jerry worked at National Grocers for 36 years retiring in 1985, and than started working for Badder Funeral Homes for 25 years. Jerry refurbished old furniture, loved going to the harness races in Dresden and sang many solos at weddings, funerals and church services over the years. He was a member of the Thamesville United Church, the Church Choir and the Men's AOTS. Beloved husband of Wilda (Cox) Holmes. Loving father and father-in-law of Jayne and John Parker (Crystal), Karen and Dennis Badder. Loving grandpa to Jeffrey Parker, Jennifer O'Brien (Chris), Timothy Badder (Joanne). Dear brother of Leato Wetherald and Jean Law. Also survived by sister-in-law Ida Holmes and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Thelma Crysdale and her husband Stewart, Edna Avery and her husband Ed and his brother Allen Holmes and brothers-in-law Allan Law and Murray Wetherald. The Holmes family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday June 16, 2016 at 1:30PM. Cremation to take place at Southwest Crematoriums, Strathroy. Interment of Cremains in Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville at a later date. If desired donations (by cheque) to the Thamesville United Church would be appreciated by the family.
