Additional Obit Info

Wygergangs: Gerarda "Gerry" (Van Hees), a resident of Bothwell, after a courageous battle with cancer, Gerry passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Sunday, November 13, 2016 in her 73rd year. Born on May 29, 1944 in Elsendorp, The Netherlands, daughter of the late Louis and Ardina (Van De Laar) Van Hees. Beloved wife of Herman Wygergangs. Cherished mother of Dianne (Glenn) Soetemans, Tony (Chris) Wygergangs, and Lucy (Tom) Deziel. Proud Oma of Nicole (Adrian), Kevin, Ryan, Luke, Brendan, Kyle, Troy, and Mitchell. Dear sister of Dora Pluk, Stien Tomassen, Riek Van Hees, Maria Rutten, Dini Holster, Nico Van Hees and Gerrit Van Hees all of Holland. Gerry will be fondly remembered by many loving brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends here in Canada, Switzerland and Holland. Predeceased by husband Piet Wygergangs, and sister Annie Syben. You and dad loved your life on the farm in Holland. When dad died in 1982, you showed us your strength, courage and positivity. When you took a trip to Canada to attend a wedding, you met up with Herman and found happiness again. Three years later we moved to Canada where you married dad`s brother. Uncle Herman, or Herman as we all call him, instantly gained three teenagers! It was a difficult time for us but the two of you showed us what love is all about and what it takes to have a great marriage for 31 years. You loved farming and showed us the value of hard work, how to get through tough times and also how to have fun. You appreciated the simple things and enjoyed life to the fullest. You enjoyed your many bike rides, going out to eat, an occasional glass of wine and puzzling. You took pride in your amazing stamp collection and your great canning skills. The daily crossword puzzle in the paper helped with your English, although we still had many laughs when the Dutchified English came out during a conversation. You also loved going for a visit to see all your family in Holland. But most of all you loved spending time with your family. Your grandchildren enjoyed the many card and board games you played with them and all the times they helped you on the farm. We will miss your awesome pancakes, your homemade soup, and all your Dutch treats, especially the oliebollen. Most of all we will miss your smile. Thank you for being the best wife, mother, and Oma that we could ever have. The Wygergangs family will receive family and friends at the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, 211 Elm St., Bothwell on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A private family service is to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque) to the Four Counties Health Services Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
