Obituary of Marilyn Louise Shaw

Shaw: Marilyn Louise (nee Coates), a resident of Fairfield Park, Wallaceburg, and formerly of Dresden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the age of 90. Marilyn was born in Tillsonburg, ON on February 5, 1931 to the late Elva Aleta (Nee Ecker) and the late Rev. William Arthur Coates. In 1952, she married John Andrew Shaw (2010) of Dresden and they raised two sons, farming in the Dresden Area throughout their lives. Marilyn was a lover of beautiful things, was gifted musically, and was known in the past for her exquisite decorating of wedding cakes. In later years, she and her husband travelled the world, visiting every continent except Antarctica. She was devoted to her church and greatly cherished her Dresden Community Church family. Marilyn is survived by her sons the Rev. Paul Shaw (Allison), and Philip J. Shaw (Cindy) all of Dresden. She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam Shaw, Alexis Shaw, Holly Shaw, Sasha Erickson (Brock), Annalise "Annie" Shaw, two great grandchildren Grainger and Delilah Erickson, several brothers/sisters-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews,cousins, family and friends, in whose lives she took great interest. She is predeceased by one grandson James Shaw (2013), and by her sister Helen G. Purnell (2019). The Shaw family will receive friends at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Dresden Cemetery. Proof of 2 vaccinations and identification are required to enter the funeral home for visitation or the funeral serviceThe Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that everyone attending must wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
